Privacy policy

Who we are

Volpe (“we”, “us”) is run by Luke Wilson in the United Kingdom. For anything in this policy, use our contact form or write to hello@getvolpe.com. We are the “controller” of the personal information described here under UK data protection law.

The short version

What is kept on your device

Volpe stores the following in your browser (local storage and IndexedDB), on the device you use. It does not leave that device unless you use a feature described below.

Your Bluesky app password is kept in your browser’s local storage on this device, so you stay connected when you close and reopen the app. It is only ever sent to Bluesky, never to us. It is removed when you remove the account in the app or delete all your data, and you can also cancel it at any time by deleting the app password in Bluesky. Because everything lives in the browser, clearing your browser data, or using a different browser or device, means it will not be there.

What passes through our servers

When you use these features, your browser sends information to a small service we run on Vercel. We do not keep it in a database. It may appear in ordinary server logs kept by our host for a short time.

Only enter web addresses of public pages. The service refuses private network addresses. Do not paste secrets or other people's private information into the AI features.

Other companies involved

WhoWhyWhat they receive
Google (Gemini API)Writes the voice profile and caption optionsThe text described above. On Google's free tier, Google may use inputs and outputs to improve its products, and people may review them. Do not use the AI features with anything you would not want that to apply to. See Google's Gemini API terms.
VercelHosts the app and the service; cookie-free page-view statisticsStandard request information such as your IP address and browser type, and page views counted without cookies. See Vercel's privacy policy.
Bluesky (and other platforms you connect)To publish your postsThe posts you choose to send, directly from your browser to the platform. Their own privacy policies apply to what they hold.

The app's font is hosted by us, so your visit does not send anything to a font provider.

Cookies and similar technology

Volpe does not set cookies. It uses your browser's storage (described above) and a service worker, which keeps a copy of the app on your device so it opens quickly and works offline. These are needed for the app to work.

Connecting social platforms

When you connect an account, we only ask for the access needed to publish the posts you create and show you whether they went out. We do not sell this information, use it for advertising, or use it to build profiles of you. Volpe connects to Bluesky with an app password that stays on your device and goes only to Bluesky. You can disconnect any account in the app and revoke access from that platform's own settings.

Why we use information, and your rights

We use the information above to provide the features you ask for (performance of our agreement with you), and to keep the service secure and working (our legitimate interests). Under UK data protection law you can ask to see what we hold about you, to correct or erase it, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive a copy. Because the content of your account is on your device, you can already view, change and erase most of it yourself. For anything else, use our contact form or write to hello@getvolpe.com. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

How long we keep things

We keep nothing about your content on our side beyond the short-lived server logs mentioned above. Information on your device stays until you delete it.

Where information is processed

Google and Vercel may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. They rely on recognised safeguards for transfers, set out in their own terms.

Children

Volpe is not meant for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will change the date at the top and, where we can, tell you in the app.
